Arrrghhhhh I’m so conflicted on how I feel about this book!! So it was a rough start, the world building was all over the place, and I genuinely felt like I’d been dropped into the middle of a story without any explanation. It was clunky and I had to go off and google loads of stuff, which in turn distracts me from the story. However, 20-25% in things start clicking into place (ish) and I can follow the story much clearer.

What helped massively, and the reason I persevered with this book, is the characters and their delicious dynamic. Alaric and T are the perfect example of enemies to lovers with all that tension and angst, and I adored their interactions so much. Both characters were well written, and their banter made me giggle and kick my feet. Alaric was giving tortured soul, and I want to see more of that angle in the next instalment.

I’m not 100% sure what’s going on with the plot, the bird thing at the end was a bit confusing?! I was also left a bit disappointed that there was very little action! I wanted full on wars and fight scenes, and I feel like that’s how the book is marketed?!

Will I read the next one? Yes probably, because I’m invested in the couple.
