This was super slow moving and I kind of hated the male love interest. I could not understand his issues, at least to the extreme that he let them get to him.

Spoiler

Returning your daughter to her birth father after all those years and believing that she would have a better life?! Did he forget what time period he was living in?

Also, while I am a mom and I do like children, I always struggle with books like this where an adult relationship with a child is a main part of the story. Not my cup of tea.
