This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens
4.0

Minnie is convinced that her birthday is unlucky, and it is Quinn’s fault even though she has never met him. They were both born at the same hospital, minutes apart. Quinn won the contest for being the first baby born on New Years Day 1990.

Thirty years later when Minnie unexpectedly runs into Quinn at his birthday party, she’s convinced times have continued to favor him. He’s handsome and charming and owns his own business. They seem to be from different worlds, yet somehow, despite it all, they keep running into each other.

I discovered Sophie Cousens just a while ago after reading an ARC of hers, and I decided I’d go back and read some of her previous works. I am glad that I did. I learned that I love time lapse books, and I was excited that this book while not a time lapse, had past and present timelines, which I also love. I fell in love with Quinn and Minnie and was rooting for them from the start. While their romance was fantastic, I think that I appreciated their own personal growth even more. I think that is what I love about the past and present timelines, you can really see characters evolve and grow. While I really enjoyed this story, I wasn’t as wowed by it as her newest release. The writing is still phenomenal, it was just not a story I enjoyed as much, and I can’t quite place my finger on why. I do still think that it is a great read.

If you are looking for a light, quick read that will allow you to just shut your brain off, then check this one out.
