So first off be prepared for a cliffhanger! This is a series and not a standalone. I was unaware this was a series and literally screamed when I flicked to the next page on my Kindle and saw the word acknowledgments. It literally is like a fall off a cliff ending. It is not a conclusion that can then lead into the next portion of the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and it kept my attention the whole time. The world was immersive and the plot twists were engaging. I enjoyed the relationship between the FMC and MMC. There was some predictability but it did not take away from my enjoyment of the development between the characters. I am excitedly waiting for the second book.
Added note:
This books does take concepts from other loved series so you will find some things familiar if you have read some of the more popular fantasy books. Fourth Wing is the main one I recognized as well as a bit of ACOTAR.
