The Incubus's Assistant
by Amy Padilla
This was my first Amy Padilla book. From the blurb, I figured it would either be a fun laugh out loud comedy of errors and clueless supernaturals with some steamy bits - or a load of puerile dog do-do. Turns out it was the first. I loved it. All the supernatural creatures were fantastic from the kraken in a salt pool in the basement working the switchboard, the hydra on reception able to hold 12 different conversations at a time to Ozen, the incubus CEO and his friends. The plot is fun, human temp turns up on the first day only to be mistaken for the new feeder. Avery, even though humans appear to be marginalised in this world is the eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side and his sunny personality certainly won me over. Ozen just wants a new feeder who won't give him a hard time or think this is anything other than a business arrangement. The pair of them trying to hide their feelings from each other is hysterical. I will definitely be reading more.
