ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!
I randomly came across it on KU and it sounded exciting and I am a sucker for small-town first loves second chance romance so I added it and dove right in.
Wren and Holt.... Their story is tragic and a huge event that happened when they were 17/18 caused some gnarly trauma and caused a lot of pain. I loved reading how they handled the tragic event and it's so believable because no one processes trauma the same and we all have little lies in us that we can't shake until we give it the space to be felt and then released so that we can be free.
But watching Holt show up again after 10 years and seeing his resolve to not leave Wren again and continue to show up for her.... My heart <3
"I'm never leaving. Not unless she asks me to. And even then, I'd never go far. She has my heart. My soul. Everything that's good in me. She's where I feel peace."
I loved the found family aspect, Holts family is literally a dream family for me. Love how his family fights for not only him but for Wren.
And I LOVED the mystery/thriller aspect of the story! It added refreshing suspense to the story and kept me on my toes while I was falling in love and rooting for our second-chance romance!
