After all this time I still hate hate HATE Jo's ending(I know it's not my girl Louisa's fault and Greta Gerwig's film does a really good job of remedying this), but c'mon. It's Little Women. It's a beloved classic that celebrates women's experiences. It's great.
The March sisters are still some of my favorite literary heroines of all time, and although the heavy Christian themes don't really resonate with me, the ideas of love and family and what it means to be an artist are applicable to anyone's life.
Also, this edition includes a great afterword by Susan Straight that I recommend checking out if you can find it. (I thrifted my copy at Goodwill.)
