Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
5.0
Having never read Clarke’s first novel, I had no idea what to expect going into this book, but I was engrossed from page 1!
Clarke’s building of the House was nothing short of magnetic and coupled with her lyrical and poetic writing style, truly made for a fantastical reading experience.
This was pitched to me as a novel for fans of the Starless Sea as it has the same nonsensical fantasy vibe and I definitely agree with this. Considering Erin Morgenstern is my favourite author, I’m not surprised I gave Piranesi a 5 ⭐️.
Not one word was out of place in this and I thoroughly recommend to anyone who enjoys the quieter, more cerebral fantasy stories!
Tip: do not read any sort of synopsis for this book, go into it completely blind!
