Love, Lucy by Betty H. Hoffman, Lucille Ball
4.0

Upon her death in 1989, Lucille Ball's children, Lucie and Desi Arnaz Jr, found a manuscript as well as some tapes she had made for this autobiography amongst her things. They decided to publish it. It covers her life up to 1964, so you don't hear about her later life but this is well worth a read. Ball's writing is engaging and it seems that she was very down to earth and personable. She came from pretty humble roots and it is clear she was a very hard worker. She went through many tough times but never let it get her down. As she writes, "I believe that we're as happy in life as we make up our minds to be." My only complaint is that there are parts of her life of which I wish she had gone into greater detail such as her time doing "I Love Lucy." I would have liked to hear more about her time doing the show as it is what made her an icon. Overall, a worthwhile autobiography of a legendary woman.
