The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia by Ursula K. Le Guin

5.0

Damn. Nobody writes like Le Guin. She manages to write about Big Ideas--philosophy, government, religion, social movements--and keep them all grounded within complex and highly individual characters. I am always moved by her clarity of language and the way she can mildly hint at huge amounts of worldbuilding because she is most focused on telling a story as cleanly as possibly. The last line was so moving in its compassion and hope that I almost cried.
