MCs were a bit too perfectly “flawed” for my tastes, and the the language around gender diversity felt forced at times (though I guess that’s the nature of the beast when it comes to inclusivity). The plot was 100% predictable but it was okay for this kind of novel, just not as enjoyable as the first book was for me.

The “grand gesture” at the end was pretty spectacular—excellent setup and execution.
