Okay. This book took me a minute to get into, compared to Fourth Wing. RY did SO MUCH INFO DUMP that my brain was like that TikTok sound with “skippy skippy doo dah” and I will say that about 25% of this book was completely unnecessary and I would have liked approx. 1.5 more spicy scenes with Xaden and Violet to keep me going.
Also Violet, who I LOVED in Fourth Wing for being a badass, was kind of annoying and whiny in this book! She made SOME points and ultimately her smarts won me over, but like girly people are allowed to have secrets from you! And ASK BETTER QUESTIONS!
THAT BEING SAID………….boy do I fucking simp for Mr. Xaden Xaddy Riorson. His speeches to Violet sent me to my fucking KNEES and Chapter 48…enough said. We love a tough and tatted man with shadow powers and will burn the world down for you, baby! No seriously where do I find one of these?
There was a lot to enjoy about this book and when it was good, it was GOOD. The ending has me ROLLING and I had to shut my book for 10 minutes at the end of the penultimate chapter. I am legitimately SICK TO MY STOMACH I didn’t think I would be frothing for the mouth for book 3 but REBECCA!!!! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!! 4 stars because some of it dragged and I really did not understand like 50% of the plot info dumps but hey, I had fun!
