This was one of the most difficult books to get through and that’s not because of tough subject matter. The pacing of this book is almost nonexistent and none of the characters are enjoyable nor believable. This book isn’t thrilling like it appears to be. Rather, it’s frustrating and annoying. My spoiler section won’t go into plot or character details but it is a little more in depth.

The reason this book has the tagline that the author is the “queen of twists” is because she builds up her twists the same way Disney twisted Hans into a villain. The characters change characteristics and personalities literally across a couple of pages. There’s no organic development. All of the mystery feels pointless and rushed and any bit of symbolism is quite literally spelt out for the reader in the very next sentence. Along with that, the pacing is horrible. The two week timeline feels like it lasts months and ends in seconds.
None of the characters are enjoyable. The protagonist is unlikeable and the supporting cast is just as disinteresting. There was no one to really root for.
The duel perspective adds nothing to the novel. Neither perspective gives any more information. Instead, it cuts at the most frustrating times and honestly doesn’t have much of a great tone change. If you listen to the audio book along with reading this, at least the people have different voices to add to it.
The ending is very unfulfilling and honestly made me wish I never checked this item out.

Overall, I can’t recommend this book. It’s not a thriller like it thinks it is and it ends up stepping over itself. I can tell the author had some really interesting ideas but they were executed very poorly. The number of twists really hindered the book more than helped it. It also dragged on. So much of the filler could be cut and the same story would remain. Maybe a different book would change my mind about this author but this one really did not leave a good impression.
