Atticus has a great voice. He's certainly entertaining and humorous. He can be an AH occasionally, but he's still a likable AH.

All of the side characters were eccentric and well done. Oberon (the wolfhound) was my favorite. I love that dog! (Atticus can talk to him mentally.) Atticus' lawyers are a werewolf and a vampire and I enjoyed both. (Though they're nothing special powers wise.)

The villain's (and a large complication in Atticus's Life) are the old gods. They were suitably colorful. I didn't particularly like any of them as people.

My biggest complaint was how drawn all of the women were to Atticus. He kissed three goddesses! (Slept with one and the other two certainly flirted enough.)

The action was particularly well done. Realistic, suitably intense, but not too overly long.

The magic system was also one of the highlights. Atticus is a bit (understatement) over powered, but his druidic magic is really awesome. He can turn into 4 animals and draw magic from the earth (usually he takes his shoes off and stands in the grass) his necklace is a large source of his powers and each bead does something different. It took him 750 years to complete. (He's 2100)

I don't like falsely accused (okay, so it wasn't really false, but it was a complicated set up with magic involved) and there were certainly enough moving parts to the bad guys' plans. Definitely enough to keep me interested and flipping pages. It wasn't really a mystery, but the plot was well done.

I definitely plan to read the next one.
