I didn't dislike it, but I feel like nothing happened? Most of this was just conversations and lightly exploring the weird three-direction-connection between the folks. Magic, possession, curses, secret council politics... they all felt like very distant backseats just to serve as a foil to them just getting to know each other. It was nice to read that of them, but there wasn't a whole lot else to it. Also shockingly no

despite all the hints and finally outright acknowledgment that they are heading that direction. I'm not mad about that, but it was something I was bracing for since like chapter three when it became clear it was headed that way, and then it ended and I was like, oh I was on the defensive for nothing. Weird.
