Where the Library Hides
by Isabel Ibañez
By the time the "big reveals" came, I was utterly bored. It seems that Inez has no faith in the people that actually want to help her and puts all of her trust in the people that are planning on blind-siding her. The first time this happened, it was an interesting twist, but by the third it was tiring. How many times does Whit have to save her life before she believes he wants to help her? How many times does she have to have complete faith in someone who has done nothing to earn it just for them to end up putting a gun to her head?
If Whit didn't have a perspective throughout books 1 and 2 I believe that his own twist would have been much more shocking. We had far too much insight into what was going on in his head for it to be surprising when he did what he did.
This duology had so much potential but I found it lacking. Inez is described as being smart, cunning, willing to do whatever it takes, a liar, a deceiver, all of these things, but she does none of them. She rarely is able to save herself and constantly looks to others to do it for her, her mother, uncle, or Whit.
Inez ended up coming up too flat for me. Her soul personality trait rests on her finding her parents and occasionally we get the reminder that she likes to draw.
