I read this book multiple times throughout my 8th and 9th-grade years and I remember loving it because I related to the efforts of the main character, Reshma. I will agree with many other reviews of this book that Reshma is not a likable character, for me, she reminded me of my academic "foes" at school. Nonetheless, junior high me appreciated the acknowledgement of the stressors of trying to always be perfect in school/academics. I would not necessarily recommend this book to everyone but it definitely has a place in certain audiences. I would maybe say leaning toward the "gifted kid burnout". I think the book will be a more enjoyable read when one goes into it knowing that this book is not one for the characters or ships but rather for the sentiments of academic pressure and turmoil.
