Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory

I started this book months ago and then, after 170 pages, set it aside, not because it wasn't good, but because I had a very specific itch and the book wasn't scratching it as I'd hoped. I finished it tonight and enjoyed it immensely. A fun story of family, superpowers, cons, and faith.

Each character had his or her own fears, desires, strengths, and failings. Books with multiple narrators can often sound like one person in different hats, but in this each character's own personhood shown through. You'd never mistake Frankie's narration for Teddy's, etc.

The story holds together well. Everything isn't resolved by the end, but each character has surer footing and hope for the future--though each is also just as likely to fall prey to their own weaknesses again and have it all fall apart.

Nothing shattering here, but definitely fun.
