If I was rating this book solely on the first 30–50%, I probably would have given it a solid 4 stars. I felt like the romantic feelings between the characters developed very fast, but some of that, I think, could be attributed a bit to how the author time-jumps somewhat. But other than that, I absolutely loved this book, and honestly, after the 30–50% mark, I have absolutely no complaints. I have not read a book this fast in a very long time. I sat down, and in a couple of hours, I was finished. I just couldn't stop reading this—I loved it.
I felt all of the emotions reading this book, and I loved how each character had such a strong voice and presence. I also love a strong FMC who stands her ground—and firmly at that—and I felt like Lily did that very well, despite still having feelings for the men in her life when shit hit the fan. And because of that, there was a lot of swoon-worthy groveling.
