Emma by Jane Austen
3.0

I have to say that Emma was not my favorite Jane Austen. The biggest reason is that I didn’t care much for the character of Emma. I felt her to be far too narcissistic and elitist, which I understand that classes were very much a part of society at that time, but her inner thoughts were of a rotten character.

For me, it was hard to overlook her sense of entitlement in meddling with every other single girl’s love life, and her view that they were all inferior in some way to herself.

Mr. Knightley, on the other hand, was an excellent character. I loved the way he knew about Emma and her silly ways, but only advised her and observed what she was up to.

I think my favorite part was when he confronted Emma about her behavior toward Miss Bates. That was great!

So, overall, I think this is a 3.5 star for me, rounded down here.
