This was a satisfying close to this trilogy. I got an ARC of this book but wasn't as drawn into it, so I went back to read the earlier books and I'm glad I did. Maria and Peter's relationship is more fraught by their emotional baggage from the beginning, and yet their dynamic is warm and it was great to see their more long-term development together. I tend to find the "one night stand turns up at work" trope daunting but in this case it worked (especially since I've learned to trust the author's steady hand with character development and touchy issues).
It moved a little more slowly than the previous two, which follows the plot. I think it worked really well to then bring us back to the conclusion of the two previous books alongside it, with a community built for all the characters we love.
