The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton

5.0

This book was brilliant and I loved every minute of living inside its covers. Granted, it took a bit to feel at home inside it, the comfort did finally come!! The characters were so well fleshed out and thought through that I loved every one of them, even the ones I was meant to hate. I told a friend of mine on IG that it took about 100 pages to be fully invested in the story, but that it was worth it, that was before I had finished, but I was absolutely right.
The pacing and action were completely spot on. With strategic "reveals" placed throughout. There are a few people I know who said they couldn't get past page 50. To them I would say, I get it, but try again, go further, try harder. It's there, just be patient, this book is totally worth waiting for it to grab you. Because, my friend ,once it grabs you, it does not let go. I could be wrong but the end smells like a set up for a sequel with these same characters. I would not be upset if I end up being right.
