Read this series for the first time at least 10 years ago. I forgot the entirety of this book, probably because it goes in such a creepy direction. I really want to know how Pierce thought this relationship would be ok. There are so many red flags and problems. Not even getting into the age gap, which is awful on its own, the relationship between Daine and Numaire is super problematic. Many others have commented on it, but it's just appalling that they went from a companionable friendship to a relationship with such a power imbalance. Yikes. Maybe if Daine wasn't still a child and Numaire wasn't her teacher, but unfortunately both those are true and make this irredeemable.
