The Davenports
by Krystal Marquis
I’m a sucker for a gorgeous historical romance!
This books focuses on the lives of 4 black women trying to figure out their places in 1910. I love that we get chapters from all of their perspectives and we get to follow each of their stories closely. Each woman is ambitious, intelligent, and uniquely independent. They each have something different to offer to the story, which is so beautiful.
I enjoyed following them all as they navigated their difficult romantic situations as well as their personal growth as the story progresses.
The romance side of things was sweet and engaging and took over a majority of the story. YA, so don’t expect spice like the Bridgertons. I found myself wanting more of the historical bits, but liked what we got. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book.
