This was weird in a bad way. I think too much attention was paid to making sure the reader knew which swaps were which, so they ended up being extremely heavy-handed in a series that already wasn't written all that well. I love the original series, but never thought the technical side was that good (though, I thought the plot was good enough to overlook that fact - Not the case here). I liked the premise of switching genders to address the heavily criticized damsel in distress thing, but it really missed all the marks.
