Vengeful by V.E. Schwab

3.0

I honestly found this book unnecessary merely because I found that it would have been better for the reader to come up with their own story for what happened after Vicious ended. Vicious ended in a pretty good way and I personally thought the story was concluded. In Vengeful we follow a bunch of new characters as a part of Schwab's attempt at expanding this universe. These characters weren't really developed and they existed merely as a way for the plot to move forward. I also felt that there were so many other ways for the story to be played out and have the same ending. I didn't think it was needed to have so many new characters because it took pages away from the characters I wanted to follow. In many instances, a character would be the focus on one chapter and then is not talked about for the next 50 pages. However, while I found so many things unnecessary in terms of this book being a sequel to a book that should have been a standalone, it was extremely fun. I love this world and all the magic that is in it. It is so fast paced making it so hard to put down and if you want more of Victor, Eli, Sydney and Mitch, you have to check this one out.
