Wish
by Sara Flanagan
Wish by Sara Flanagan is a captivating journey into a world of magic, Fae, and the haunting darkness fueled by greed and power. While the initial start of the book was a bit slow for my taste, the remaining 75% or so picked up the pace and unfolded into a whirlwind of cruelty, heartbreak, and, ultimately, healing, love, and vengeance. The connection between the main characters, forged through shared trauma, is beautifully crafted and sincerely moving.
I found myself thrilled by the cliffhanger ending, which leaves you desperate for more. Flanagan has a remarkable talent for storytelling, skillfully weaving each element to leave you breathless and yearning for the next installment.
Though not overly heavy on spice, this book does contain some, and it deals with several triggering themes. Be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in.
