Antologi Rasa by Ika Natassa
3.0
Before reading : What to expect? A lot of my friends (especially Cabul) love this book so much. I've put off reading this book because I tend to not reading 'mainstream' and 'popular' book (subjective opinion, really), but now let's see if I'm ready to jump into the bandwagon of Ika Natassa's very enthusiastic fans.
After reading :
Antologi Rasa. 339 mg. Prescribed by Ika Natassa. Complete with general warning on the cover :
Prolonged delusion --Nope.
Hyper-romanticism -- err...still nope.
Temporary insanity -- you're being hyperbolic, aren't you.
Insomnia -- I admit I stayed up late to read this until the voices in my head finally forced me to give up ("Ver, buru tidur, kamu harus ngambil data skripsi besok!" Well, damned voices)
Selective memory loss -- *forgetting skripsi for a while and continue reading*
Spontaneous crying -- are you kidding me. Some characters cry but I...just watch their pouring emotion with stoic expression.
uncontrollable giggles -- The analogies used are brilliant, especially when the story is told from Harris' POV.
changes in appetite -- Eat? What eat? *continue reading*
irresistible urge to write quotes -- THIS IS SO TRUE
compulsive buying -- Nope, don't have the money.
unexplainable peace of mind -- ...naaah.
I like it well enough. This book is like a piece of diabetic-inducing sweets that is my guilty pleasure but eventually I have to stop because I know it's not good for my health in the long run.
A good dip into the life of young and 'successful' executives who got caught in a tangled web of love, hate, and friendship. Well written, I should say. The characters feels contradictive sometimes, but it's okay. Written in alternate first person POV, but sometimes I feel like reading same person narrating. Maybe it's because the characters are actually more similar than they thought. The difference are maybe Harris is slightly funnier, Keara rambled a little bit more about brands and John Mayer, Ruly is slightly more reserved, and Panji...why was he given one insignificant narrating part anyway.
So much description of alcohols that I wonder if real executives really drink a lot like this. But who am I to say, I don't live in Keara, Harris, and Ruly's world, and I'm satisfied enough to just have this glimpse to their world.
