Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson

5.0

I am absolutely obsessed with the self aware format of this both of the narrator who comments on his own reliability & the author as he solves so many problems in crime novels which he has the MC point out.

The main thing is that you can actually guess the ending !! It’s not some deus ex machina solution that gives you no sense of satisfied completion upon reveal. That being said, it’s still super twisty & intelligent in its structure & reveals (I said the solution *was* guessable I never said I did)

Overall, this is a masterclass in the art of crafting a book & it’s a joy to read realising how well thought out every little decision is.

*Trigger warning: The stuff with his ex-wife was a bit deep & took me by surprise a little in this otherwise very funny book so maybe stay away if fertility stuff triggers you.*
