tldr: It was a grumpy x sunshine disney fanfic with a lot of wtf moments and tons of miscommunication and contradictions.

I always start with a 5-start system and then subtract the total for the things that I didn't like...

My explanation for this rating:

miscommunication trope -1 start

Honestly, I hate this trope! I just wanna shake the characters until they stop with the bullsh*t. I get it they were betrayed and don't like to trust in every person they met, but omg i almost dnf this book because of this trope.

contradiction -1 start

Rowan just plans f*king amazing dates
SpoilerMeet & Greet with her favourite author AND TRAVEL TO ANOTHER STATE, expensive restaurant, not dates but all the drawings
just to say they're casual (??)
I don't understand if it was supposed to be insta love or slow burn. They kissed in the beginning of the book and they took a lot of chapters to just be like "oh idk if they like me" oh please. and of course, the whole "boss/employee" contradiction that she doesn't even respect him and somehow she's the best creator?!?!

???? wtf bro -1 star

Idk how to classify this but the whole Scott plot was meh. In my country we have an expression for that, it's "to fill the sausage" aka ideas that are irrelevant and non-interesting for the plot and are made just to fill an empty space. I just ended up skimming this whole part. But the worse part was the "I want to kiss Rowan until his lips are swollen and the sad look in his eyes is replaced by lust" he is talking about his trauma and she is horny?!?!? honey?!?!

Ani and Rowan +1 star

Rowan and Ani’s interactions were chef's kiss. I love the representation. Honestly, I love them together and because of that I put the book in my "neutral" opinion. I'll read the others just because I like to finish the series, and maybe MAYBE they'll be better.

It was a grumpy x sunshine disney fanfic like I was truly hoping that i was putting the "favourite" tag in this series but i was wrong. I wish I had read several scenes of them working together after work, eating takeout food, with him drawing while she's dumping a lot of ideas. I miss this connection, the chemistry other than just pure lust.
