a dystopian written in the 1990s and set in 2024-2027 - this book is important now more than ever. it explores themes of racism, climate change, desperation, & capitalism. it's an encouragement to organise in communities & a warning against burying your head in the sand because what's happening in the world is scary.
i found the story really gripping, although frequently distressing to read. i struggled to understand the point of the earthseed stuff,& i really disliked the 18 year old & 57 year old man subplot . i'm interested to see where it goes in the second installment.
