I read books 1-3 to give this series a chance, but honestly I don't understand why the author kept writing. The books get progressively worse in terms of a lack of editing, meh romance, lazy copy+paste of multiple paragraphs from previous books, and annoying plot holes. The only good points are that they are quick reads and the background plot with the Horde was getting interesting. The "preview" last chapter not actually being a preview for the next book (or even for the 3.5 novella) but instead for book 6 was the final straw. It's obvious the author didn't spend much time planning out these books.
What annoys me most is that they author claims this series is great for Ruby Dixon fans. Ruby Dixon's books are a LOT better and nothing like this series. If readers like the alien bride lottery/gameshow trope, I would point them towards Tana Stone's Drexian Warriors series or Nancy Cumming's Mahdfel series. Both are leaps and bounds better writing and stories than this series.
