A Time to Kill by John Grisham
3.0
I read the book then I saw the movie.. Which was better??? Am still not sure. Though the concept of the book was awesome I found it boring. I read this when I was around 15.. I could not complete it then. Even though I finished it now and I LOVED the story I found the details little too much especially all that legal and court stuff and the action was way too little. I was with Carl Lee from the beginning of the story. And the shooting those two bastards was not satisfying enough. They should not have died. they should have been castrated and left them to dogs and put them in jail so that they would be raped and fucked day and night (I am sorry guys). I admired Jack for taking up the case BUT the way Grisham has made Jack into attention seeking, not good enough lawyer was really really upsetting. Maybe the real world works like that but am really not sure. And the Jury!! Lets say... even if the jury was biased how many people will not sympathise with the father. What upset me most was how the story was totally about how to win the case and Grisham made all the characters pretty weak and by the end the case was won with out any credit to Jack, Roark or Carl lee, or so many people who fought for the case. I wish the book was more about the little girl rather than those two good for nothing bastards. I don't know.... but I still pretty much liked the book even if the HERO'S were not given enough credit. I wish this case was given to Godfather rather than taken it to the court but may be Jack and Carl lee din't know Godfather personally.
