Something Borrowed: A Historical Romance Collection by Allison Pittman, Rachel Scott McDaniel, Susie Finkbeiner
4.0

ARC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5’s

This was a fun unique book. It is a novella collection by three renowned Christian historical fiction authors. The three novellas are interconnected through a special wedding dress with love sewn into the seams. Rachel Scott McDaniels writes “A Heart in Disguise,” the story of a seamstress helping with the war by sowing and testing camouflage suits. This story was full of mystery and swoon! “A Letter to Eli” by Allison Pittman is the story of lifelong friends and a secret letter to her ex-boyfriend now soldier. I loved the second chance romance and the friendship in this one. Susie Finkeiner writes “A Daffodil in the Dress,” the story of a second love in a world on the brink of disaster. I loved the slow burn romance and the single parent trope this one included, it was so sweet to read.

Each story was beautifully written and compelling. I enjoyed how they all interconnected through the wedding dress. It was a fun change to my usual reading to read three interconnected novellas. Each story was war related, but varied enough to give each time period a distinct and different feel. The historical detail put into each story was so helpful too, I felt as if I was there!

Quote: “She could hardly breathe, let alone move. Because Marcus Reeves stood before her. The first boy to steal her heart. The last man to break it.”

Thank you to the author Rachel Scott McDaniel, Allison Pittman and Susie Finkbeiner for the advanced reader copy of the book!
