Heartsick: Three Stories About Love and Loss, and What Happens in Between by Jessie Stephens

emotional sad medium-paced

This was a fantastic and moving read. I wasn't expecting to be so moved from these stories. I grew to love each of the three main characters and found myself quite heartbroken at their respective heartbreaks. While I didn't always agree with their decisions (particularly as each of them made decisions that seemed from the outset to be mistakes or which would end badly) or relate to their experiences, I ended the book feeling like they were three old friends who I wanted to reach out to and hug. And while each of them had a different type of relationship, I was touched that they experienced heartbreak in the same way, showing the universality of this human experience. I also loved the author's introduction and epilogue, particularly when she brought her own stories to the book (which I actually related to more than the stories of Claire, Patrick and Anna). I listened to this as an audiobook and found the author's narration very easy to listen to.
