Overtime by Toni Aleo

Jordie, Jordie, Jordie. How much do I love you? So much, that I read Overtime twice before writing the review. Toni Aleo's writing is amazing. She had me in tears frequently--the pain, the love, the dedication. Overtime is a story of survival, Jordie's upbringing was tragic. His childhood broke my heart. Jordie's childhood destroyed his heart, his self worth. Jordie only knew one way to cope-a bottle of Jack (or any other alcohol available). He doesn't think he deserves love. He doesn't think he deserves Kacey. But that will change when he is forced into rehab by Elli, Assassins owner. Overtime is the story of Jordie's journey to sobriety. I have a new respect for recovering alcoholics. Their journey is a difficult one that takes a strong support network. Overtime isn't just Jordie's story. Overtime is Kacey's story of compassion, undying love and forgiveness. Jordie and Kacey's story isn't without challenges. I think I hate Jordie's mom than he does. That woman makes me want to scream. Thankfully, Kacey reacts the same way. It isn't easy to forgive. It isn't easy to put the past behind you. The struggles kept me turning pages. The unexpected kept me reading. The love and romance kept me cheering them on. The end had me doing the happy dance.
