The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner
1.0

This is the worst book ever. Why this is a classic is beyond me. I guess I could go on and on about how truly terrible this book is, but I won't. The first 264 pages (at least in my edition) has 3 long chapters narrated in a stream of consciousness by 3 of the characters apparently shifting through time. (By the end of the book, the reader finds that the first narrator isn't even able to verbalize words - just be warned.) The final chapter starting in my edition at page 265 and going to the end which is page 326 provides the best overview of what this book is about. Of course, the author punked the reader with the opening quote from Macbeth, "...it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing" I've given this 1 star but it really deserves 0 stars.
