Citadele by A.J. Cronin

4.0

Loved the writing style: Cronin truly was a genius, perfectly portraying a truly specific profession that many couldn't understand, and doing it so effortlessly.
The book itself I hated, truly, truly hated - all the things I hate to read about: romance (so fluffy and pure and sentimentally too sweet), then the bitter truth of relationships (if you are incapable of making it work - don't start) and then all the ethics that I didn't want to read about.
