Being the first book from Ellen Hopkins I have ever read, I was very impressed. Although I am not a fan of poetry, the writing style made the story interesting. I was constantly anticipating what would happen next, making it one of the fastest books I have read through!
The book handles many delicate topics well such as family, substance abuse, friendship, sports and therapy.
The characters were so lovable, and I could relate to both the main characters. Despite being a young narrator, the tone felt very mature, which is fitting considering the experiences faced by the family. The ending was beautiful, it is definitely one of my favourites!
