I definitely wouldn't classify this as horror and it didn't read scary to me in any way, but it was a good book! The mixed-media format (journal and interview mainly) wasn't really...necessary? I don't know that it was used well, this could have just been a straight novel so that was a bit disappointing but the overall story was interesting. It took a bit for the characters to grow on me since the novel really is more about them and the human relationships than the Sasquatch attack, but grow they did! I really was rooting for everyone to make it out (though it's clear from the very name 'Sasquatch Massacre' that they don't) and I really enjoyed Katie's character evolution.
Would I say this was the best book ever, a genre changer like World War Z was? No. Is it still an enjoyable read with interesting characters and an intriguing survival plot and setting? Definitely.
