Luca by Nikki J. Summers

4.0

This story was a from a first for me author.
The story starts in the past and then continues to flip back and forth between past and present. Chloe and Luca remind me of the kids from Sweet Home Alabama, only British.
This book packed A LOT of drama. It was like a roller coaster. Just when I thought everything was hunky dory, something else happened. I thought it was going to be a bit much, but the author kept me engaged.
There were tender moments, brutal moments, and a lot of hot moments.
Luca is your typical brooding, alpha male that doesn't like to appear weak.
Chloe has been forced to be independent and doesn't want to lose that.
There were a few things I wish were different. One - where is this taking place? I'm assuming somewhere in the UK, but not 100% sure. Two - I wish there was a flashback of what made Chloe a harder person. It was shared in the story but I felt like this was an important piece to the story's puzzle.
There were a lot a grammar issues throughout the entire story - run-on sentences, no commas, etc. - but the plot was strong enough that this could be overlooked.
Then there was the font change when it was Luca's story. It was significantly smaller than what was used for Chloe's story.  This could be an Amazon issue, but I felt like I had to squint through his chapters.
Overall, I REALLY enjoyed this story and look forward to reading the next!
