Girls Burn Brighter by Shobha Rao

I read this book in two days, and let me tell you, it was amazing. I loved the interconnecting stories of Savitha and Poornima. I loved how selfless Savitha. Savitha just wanted money so she could feed her family and help pay for her sisters' dowry even though she was the oldest sister. Poornima initially thought she was poor, but realized that people can be poorer than she was, when meeting Savitha. On their journey to becoming friends, I desperately wanted Poornima to learn from Savitha that she should find happiness for herself. It was hard to tell if she ever truly felt happy, but it always seemed like Poornima was happy when she was around Savitha, and vice versa. The only issue I had with the story was that the Prologue seemed very random. I am guessing the woman in the Prologue is either Savitha or Poornima, but we never get to see to see this old woman again. Other than that, this was a wonderful book.
