Preacher, Book Six by Garth Ennis

5.0

What an ending. What a series.

If it wasn't for the fact that the show is on and guaranteed at least another season, it would make me pretty sad to say goodbye to these characters for good. Above all, this series excelled in having unique and likable (or extremely unlikable) characters, even when it felt like the plot was going nowhere. And boy did it go somewhere, in the end. This volume does more than give us a satisfying and unexpected ending, it also justifies every detour the story ever took. Everything comes into play in some way, however small, and it makes for the best ending possible, Preacher-style.

At this point I'm genuinely curious as to how they're ever going to make this stuff work on TV. I really hope they do.
