The Treason of Isengard: The History of The Lord of the Rings, Part Two by J.R.R. Tolkien, Christopher Tolkien

I wish I could give this 100 stars because 5 isn't nearly enough to describe the perfection of Tolkien's masterpiece that is The Lord of the Rings trilogy. After YEARS of picking up the trilogy and trying to read it but failing and having to put it back down and start the cycle all over again, I was determined that this summer would finally be the summer when I was finally going to start and finish reading the entire trilogy and I succeeded! I can't even begin to describe how powerful and eloquently written each book was, how developed the story and characters were, and just how beautifully it was written. It was intense and gripping, and it had its moments where you were on the edge of your seat, trying to figure out what was going to happen, biting your nails in anticipation (even if you've seen the movies). I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of his work, starting with The Silmarillion. The Lord of the Rings trilogy solidifies Tolkien's place as one of the best authors of all time, and he will continue to be one of the greatest authors of all time.
