This is another good fast paced thriller in the Grant County series and finds Sara and Jeff making a morbid discovery in the woods leading them to a nearby farm run by a religious group as a halfway house and refuge for those who need it. Typically things are not quite as they seem and the pair quickly discover there is a lot going on beneath the surface of the farm than first thought. The story progresses well with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and re-thinking your opinion of many of the characters. However I did find Sara somewhat tiresome as she felt the need to pretty much constantly guilt trip Jeff over his past indiscretions and their continuing impact on their lives (seriously love, if it bothers you that much why take him back?). And Lena could do with a reality check or two (easy to say given the circumstances, I know but still). I did love Bella, Sara aunt, though and I would've loved to have her in the story a bit more (as completely irrelevant as it would've been). Overall this is a really good read that keeps you engrossed from start to finish.
