The Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin
3.0
*Spoiler Alert*
This was a good book until the end. Emma was, to me, the typical white woman blaming everyone else instead of taking ownership for being a horrible friend to Zadie. Tons of people grow up poor, in abusive families, etc they do not latch on and sleep continuously with their best friends man while being in a relationship with Graham, a man who loved her.
That being said, any book that can garner such anger, sadness and good feels from me is definitely worth a read.
I appreciate the medical knowledge to explain what was happening with the characters however some sections I felt could have been left out of the novel. The character development was good and I loved how she flash from the present to 1999 and from Emma to Zadie.
It would make a great Covid or Summer Beach Read.
