Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis
4.0

Slow to start, but fascinating once you got into it. In typical Lewis fashion, in amidst the beautiful description and imaginative narrative, there is this unspoken layer of philosophical reflection on the human condition. It reminded me of the Great Divorce in the way it so craftily exposed the ugly of parts humanity we are so easily blinded to- but in a more subtle way, disguised in the plot of a fascinating sci-fi universe. Even more exciting was the way this universe was, of course, embedded within a ‘Biblical’ narrative, much in the same Narnia is. Worth a read!
