For a child that has someone acts a little gruff or grumpy, but still loves them dearly, Mother Bruce will make for a funny read. I would advise story listeners be able to handle the humor involved of a bear who initially tries to return the baby geese growing to love and care for them, and not be upset by that initial rejection. The illustrations are charming, and adults will laugh at the foodie-humor.
