I love Dawn French and think she is lovely but unfortunately this book missed the mark for me.
The story should be pretty good - two women have babies on the same day at the same hospital. One baby is stillborn, the other healthy. The mother of the stillborn kidnaps the healthy baby. Unfortunately, there were a few things that just didn't work for me.
1)Why would she not take the baby back when her hormones died down?
2)The police chief was a bungling idiot and there is now way he would have got the position he did when he was so incompetent.
3) I don't believe that Hope would kill herself at the end of the novel. It just went against everything she seemed to be in the novel.
Overall 3 stars from me.
