The Bridge to Holy Cross
by Paullina Simons
Every syllable of this book and the one before it, is expertly crafted into a spectacular work of art that is impossible to ignore.
Every character is stripped bare and put on display before the reader, sharing their hopes, dreams, fears, regrets … revert morsel of their soul. You can’t help wanting everyone to come out the other side in tact, but knowing it’s just not possible.
Simon’s writing is so riveting, it took some serious willpower to put the book down to do seemingly meaningless tasks like eating, sleeping, showering… but every second the book was out of my hands, my head and heart stayed with the story. Stayed with Tatiana, Alexander and Anthony. I couldn’t bare to leave them where they were and so I read on, as though my reading about them would in some way assist them in their plight.
The Bronze Horseman and The Bridge to Holy Cross are by far the best books I’ve feasted on in years! I’ve already stocked up on a few copies to give as gifts, because every reader deserves to experience such an extravagant tale.
These books thrust you into the pages of the story with such ferocity that when you do miraculously manage to pull yourself out and take a deep breath, you look around you in confusion, wondering how the world is still carrying on as though you’ve not just experienced unspeakable horrors with Tatiana and Alexander.
The characters are so rounded and the story is so expertly intertwined that it’s difficult to believe that this is a work of fiction.
These books are not to be missed! I honestly have no idea how I’m going to be able to read anything else once I’ve devoured the last book in this trilogy. It’s going to take a true miracle to top these books. They’ve definitely ranked in my top 5 favourite books EVER!
